Will LOVES Gymnastics

Will is completely loving his gymnastics class.

He does a great job following the warm-up routine, and his VERY favorite is swinging on the bars (although the beam is a close second!)

Mark Your Calendars!!!

I just visited my doctor today. He plans to induce me on either...

Friday, August 29th or Thursday, September 4th

I'm hoping for the 29th, but will keep you posted!!!

Here I am today (35 Weeks Pregnant)

Shoe Obsession

Will is officially obsessed with shoes. Seriously, he LOVES shoes.

He wears his red crocs ALL the time & he even insists on sleeping with them. (He honestly won't go down for his nap unless they're both on his feet.)

When he's playing in the kitchen, he often heads over to our shoe bin to try on everyone else's shoes.

We recently went to the mall to buy Savannah some new shoes...but Will was more proud of them than she was!

My only real problem with the shoe obsession is that his other obsession is with juice...and at 20 months old, Will's pronunciation of "shoes" and "juice" are EXTREMELY hard to differentiate. So, I am constantly making sure he is equipped with both.

Dancing Angels Summer Camp

Savannah recently finished a week of Dancing Angels Summer Camp, where she was a ballerina for 3 hours every day.

I have to admit, she completely enjoyed it, but she is also completely "over" ballet. (She MUCH prefers gymnastics to ANY of her other activities & has asked to focus all extra time & effort in that direction...more pictures to come!)

Here she is, expertly performing her dance to "Jesus Loves Me"

Library in the Mall

Our closest mall just added a library, and our family is THRILLED about it.

Of course, the kids & I have always enjoyed going to the mall for the play area & food court, but it's just completely refreshing to now go & have some fun reading time too!

Family Kindermusik

So, the surprise hit of our summer has been Family Kindermusik.

The class provides 2 cd's of music that we currently listen to in the car almost all of the time. The kids LOVE learning the music & then going to class once a week to sing, dance, and be crazy in a decently structured way.

It's beeen great to have an indoor summer activity for the whole family & I honestly think it's a pretty solid bonding experience for Savannah & Will.

Will's Dream-Come-True

Tractor, parked overnight, RIGHT in front of our house.

He couldn't take his eyes off of it...

Swimming Sensation

I have to admit, I had gotten a bit skeptical of swimming lessons...
Savannah has always been comfortable in the water and, truth be told, I never had swimming lessons when I was a kid, and I think I turned out just fine.

But, I signed her up for 2 weeks at Dolfin Swim School this year & we are COMPLETELY amazed at the progress she made. Honestly, I'm still in shock. 2 weeks ago, she hated to go underwater & constantly complained about water up her nose. Today, I can't get Savannah to wear any type of floaty, even if I beg! She dives into the deep end without a second thought & has all the confidence in the world in her own swimming capabilities. Seriously, amazing.

We're so proud of you, Savannah!

Parent viewing day began with the official flag ceremony...

A picture that doesn't even come close to doing her swimming skills justice (I'll have to take some more!)

Birthday Parties

We've been to some pretty completely amazing 4th birthday parties this year. It's always so fun to see the different ideas thought up by kids & parents.

Savannah & I just got back from her friend's "Fancy Nancy" birthday party. If any of you out there have little girls, and haven't read the Fancy Nancy books, they're worth looking into--completely adorable stories about a little girl who loves ALL things fancy.

So, we used the party as the perfect excuse for Savannah to wear her inherited-from-Mamoo (my Grandmother) awesome costume jewelry. This is the only picture I got, but doesn't Savannah look Fancy?! (Mamoo would be so proud!)

We also went to another friend's pool birthday party. Savannah & I volunteered to make & bring the cupcakes. We had SUCH a fun time decorating them--we made "cookie sand" for some, and cut out shark fins for the others.

Savannah, modeling our creations...

Happy 4th of July!

We had such a great family day for the 4th this year.

Highland Park hosts the most adorable, quaint, patriotic 4th of July parade imaginable. We look forward to it every year, and this year, the kids were especially intrigued by all the festivities.

At the parade

Rod & Savannah, watching the band

Will, grinning about the stash of starlight mints he gathered from parade participants

We spent the afternoon at the movies, viewing "Wall-E". Rod & Jen just didn't love it. Savannah and Will, however, thought it was completely fantastic. After the movie, they ran all around the theatre, chasing & hugging each other.

Our evening was spent watching the Dallas Country Club fireworks show. We had a fantastic view & the kids thoroughly enjoyed the big spectacular!

Crafty Kids

We're still regulars for Saturday Kid-Crafts at Lakeshore Learning.
Savannah is WAY into art projects. If I give her the option of doing ANYTHING she wants with her day, she chooses to work on projects with Mom. So, here are a few pictures from our latest outing...

Blueberry Picking

On Friday, we headed out to Edom, Texas (about 90 minutes away) for our annual blueberry pick.

It's such a fun tradition. I always enjoy the beautiful country drive out with friends (such a good chance to catch up on all sorts of girl talk). It's always hot & dirty (although we lucked out this year--not so brutally hot as it could have been!) & we always look forward to coming home to make all sorts of blueberry goodies.

This year, I just took Will (Savannah spent her morning attending Spanish Camp at the Dallas International School...more on that one later) & we enjoyed gathering our fantastic blueberry crop. He was COMPLETELY delightful on the trip & we both loved every minute of our one-on-one time together.

Here I am...

I've received requests to post my pregnant self on the blog, so here I am. Rod took the picture this evening.

10 weeks to go!

I suppose I could milk the pregnant thing and claim fatigue, nausea, and misery, but I just can't do it.

The honest truth is that I REALLY love being pregnant. Especially the last trimester. I love feeling the baby move. I love knowing that I always have a little buddy with me. I love that, when I'm doing nothing at all, I'm really doing something--because I'm growing a baby. I love being completely still in my bed & seeing that little body wiggle around in my belly. I love to think about what she looks like, what her personality will be like, and how her life will add so much to our sweet family.

I know it's not the norm, and I know that some people will be bugged that I'm not suffering, but I just really really feel good when I'm pregnant, and I think that's ok. I know it's a blessing, and I am thankful every day for my healthy, pregnant body.

He's a Boy

Lately, I am getting a HUGE kick out of seeing the inherent differences in my boy and my girl.

When Savannah was Will's age, she was very busy--climbing, running, being crazy--but she didn't kick, spit, or grunt.

Will does.

I try not to laugh, but sometimes it's hard. He's so stinkin' cute.

This morning, several tractors were outside of outside of our house, replacing the curbs & driveways on our street.

Savannah thought it was cool...but Will thought it was absolutely, completely, totally fantastically cool. I had to take some pictures of his morning entertainment.

At the Car Wash

The kids & I have a Wednesday tradition of going to the Car Wash.

I found the BEST little spot & I love, love, love it.

It's close to Love Field Airport, in a not-so-non-sketchy part of town. Wednesday is "Ladies Day". For $8, they THOROUGHLY wash the inside & outside, including windex on the windows & a complete towel dry. Today, I went crazy & spent $2 extra to have my backseat floor mats shampooed. Unbelievable.

On top of the great deal, it's a completely fun outing for my kids. I think I must be the only person who brings little ones along, because whenever they come, the entire crew goes crazy. They whip out suckers, give them high-fives, and offer all sorts of attention.

Will goes straight to the popcorn machine:

He then browses the greeting cards while enjoying his buttery snack:

And sits on the spinning stool (sucker in hand) to watch the cars roll through:

Good times!

Chipotle Love

Rod is a big Chipotle fan.

I'm kind of on the fence--sometimes I really enjoy it, sometimes I really hate it.

Savannah is definitely on Daddy's side--she loves, loves, loves her rice & beans.

When we all recently went to lunch together, Rod & I couldn't get Will to eat a thing. Savannah, however, was anxious for her little brother to join her Chipotle-loving world.

So, she proceeded to feed him his entire meal, all the while offering encouraging remarks such as, "Will, you are such a good eater...Good job Will...Yum Yum..."

Thanks, Savannah, for being such a good helper. I hope you keep it up when your baby sister comes along!

WeekDay Getaway

We just got back from a fabulous 3-day stay with our friends out at Possum Kingdom.
The area is just absolutely beautiful & a great reminder to us of how fabulous Texas can really be!

On the drive out, we took our kids for their first trip to Dairy Queen (also known as the "Texas Stop Sign"--no small town in Texas is complete without one!) They LOVED their M&M Blizzard!

We hiked out to see baby deer

The boys made cookies on the kitchen floor

There's just something irresistibly squishy about my little guy in a life jacket!

Savannah drove the boat

We swam for HOURS

Rod leapt off the Cliffs of Insanity...

And tore it up on the water

Savannah's new admirer

Happy Father's Day!

It sounds completely crazy, but after 9 years of marriage & 7 years of Texas living, Rod & I have never owned our own Grill...Until now!

For Father's Day, we surprised Rod with the gift of real outdoor cookin'. It hasn't even been a week, and we've experimented with chicken, steak, fish, burgers...we can't get enough! Why didn't we do this forever ago??

Have to add Savannah's enthusiastic reaction to her grilled chicken:
"Wow, Mom! I didn't know food could taste like this!!!"

The kids could hardly wait for Daddy to open his present so they could take over the big box--hours of entertainment!

As a side note, Savannah has been attending summer camp at Hockaday. Here she is on "Dress Like Your Dad Day". So cute! (And yes, the tie she's wearing features Snoopy on the tennis court.)

At camp, Savannah made a Father's Day Card that says:

"My Dad's name is Rod, he is 51. His favorite color is grey. He likes to eat bananas. His favorite sport is tennis. I like it when my daddy colors with me."

(I have to admit, except for the age, she was spot on!)

We are so completely & incredibly blessed to have a Daddy who loves his kids so so so so much. He is just full of fun, enthusiasm, and endless energy. Thanks, Daddy, for being so awesome!

PINKALICIOUS!

Savannah & I recently joined some friends to watch "Pinkalicious, The Musical". Based on the adorable children's book, (it's one of Savannah's very favorites--she can even "read" it to herself) here's the premise:

Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament.

So, we got all decked out in pink & enjoyed a Pinkalicious afternoon:
