Parent Reader

I've been anxiously waiting all year long for my turn as parent reader at Savannah's school. Savannah chose for me to read "The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear" (one of our definite favorites) and "What Makes a Rainbow?" (of course!)

Savannah was so proud to show off her younger siblings. She took good care of Will in the reading circle, and Lila was thrilled to scoot around while the kids played a big group game of "Peek-A-Boo" just for her!

10 Years!

Happy Anniversary, Rod!

I'm so proud of us and of the sweet family we've built over the last 10 years.
Those 3 kids are unbelievable.

I love you so much & I appreciate all that you do for me.
Thank you for choosing to be my man.

I can't wait to celebrate!

Love,
Jen

MUD

It's been raining this week.

Savannah begged to play outside in the mud.

I didn't see any harm in it. It's just mud, right?

I never dreamed she would spread it all over the entire deck, down the whole driveway, up the walkway, and add muddy hand-prints to the side of the house, just to finish it off.

Shoot.

Forget dirty little boys...I think this little girl has them all beat!

Neighborhood Crawfish Boil

Crawfish season is upon us!

Our neighborhood goes all-out every year.

Will couldn't take his eyes off the huge bag o' live crawfish.

And Savannah couldn't take her eyes off the huge pot o' dead crawfish.

Pretty gross, but pretty fun. Gotta love the tradition!

Rainbow Connection

Savannah has never been really "into" anything.
She has always been a big fan of variety.
(princesses, star wars, ponies, spiderman, fairies...it's all good)

But there's just something about the rainbow.

She's REALLY into the rainbow.

She just LOVES all those colors.

And it cracks us up.

Here she is today, with rainbow sandals, rainbow shorts, and rainbow hair band, showing off the picture she drew of...the rainbow.

The picture was taken at an ADORABLE apple-themed birthday party she just attended. So fun!

Look Who's Riding a Big-Kid Bike!

Is that Savannah Hinze whizzing around the block with no training wheels?

Over the past few weeks, Savannah has gotten VERY good at riding this "Balance Bike" Rod bought the kids for Christmas. It's just a very small bicycle, with no pedals, and it gave her the balance & confidence she needed to really get going.

This morning, Rod helped Savannah on her big-kid bike by wrapping a towel around her waist & holding it for balance. Moments later, the towel was gone and Rod was running (fast) to keep up! Savannah rode around the entire block.

And here she is, coming up the driveway finish-line (I love the view of Rod in the background...that's one proud & satisifed daddy!)
Way to go, Savannah! We knew you could do it!!

All Worn Out

Lila just goes & goes & goes...she can't bear to miss out on any action (as the 3rd child, does she even really have another option?). She's tiny (in the 5th percentile for height & weight) but mighty fierce!

She bounced so long & so hard at the gym today, that she just suddenly crashed. I loved seeing her sound asleep, in the middle of all the Kid's Club craziness.

Yoga For Kids!

Today, Savannah went to a Yoga class at our gym. Completely adorable.

I snuck in at the beginning to take a picture. Each child, with hands placed at heart center, had an opportunity to say what their hearts wished to "sprinkle" on the rest of the class. Savannah, not surprisingly, said, "I want to sprinkle rainbows".

I snuck in again at the end, to get a picture of Savannah in final savasana (corpse pose). I was completely impressed with her stillness. Savannah RARELY stops moving, even when she's asleep! Unfortunately, my flash caught her attention.

Good work, Savannah! Namaste.

Fun at the Park

We wasted away our afternoon at the park today.

Plenty of snacks, a fenced-in playground, drop-in visits from friends, and a baby willing to sleep in the bjorn provided for 3 1/2 hours of fun.

Little Mermaid

Savannah went to a "Little Mermaid" birthday party today.
Much to our disappointment, Ariel arrived with her legs on.
(We were honestly looking forward to seeing a life-size mermaid tail!)

The girls danced with Ariel

And then sat down for eye shadow & tattoos.
When Savannah's turn came, she immediately told Ariel, "No make-up please". She's just not into that stuff (and it makes her Daddy so happy!)

Savannah's cuter than any Little Mermaid I've ever seen!

Bluebonnets!

Hands down, one of the best things about living in Texas!

Heaven

I just got back from a trip to the grocery store with all 3 kids.
Lila in the Bjorn, Will in the small part of the basket, Savannah in the big part of the basket, groceries anywhere & everywhere they could fit.

In the middle of the pasta aisle, a cute, sweet, elderly gentleman approached us.

He gave us a long, hard, look, and then said:

"You are Heaven."

I literally got teary eyed.
So nice to be reminded there's nothing better than happy, healthy babies!

Lila Kate at the Arboretum

Weaving

Just for fun, I popped in on Savannah at school today.
I found her her working away on an old-fashioned weaving loom.
Pretty cute stuff.

Puppy Love

My kids REALLY want a pet. Savannah will tell you, however, "My dad is allergic to cats & we can't have a dog until my mom is done having babies." Yep.

Until then, I'm thankful to have discovered our newest local pet store that invites the children to play with their puppies.

Savannah, Will & Lila fell in love with this little guy. I feel pretty good about driving the kids out to see their "new pet" anytime they want...easier, cheaper & cleaner than bringing him home :)

More Enthusiasm

"Legend has it" that Rod was a VERY busy child.
(Surprised? I didn't think so.)

Apparently, Rod's father consistently felt inspired to bless his young son with "the gift of enthusiasm". So much so, that sweet Sarah finally requested her husband please STOP with that particularly blessing...she felt Rodney had quite enough enthusiasm, thank you very much.

It was obvious to us all from the start that Savannah inherited Rod's great gift of enthusiasm.

And now, 4 years later, it has come back to us full-force with Baby Lila.

Lila is happy, happy, happy, and busy, busy, busy. She ALWAYS has a smile to give, she NEVER stops moving (dressing her requires some serious upper-body strength), and she HATES to go to sleep.

Rod & I laugh to think about the adventures that Lila & Savannah have ahead of them...with sweet William stuck in the middle of it all!!

Lila is currently our resident worm. She belly-crawls ALL over the house, chasing after her older siblings. I'm quite tempted to attach a Swiffer to her tummy...she may as well properly clean the floors while she's at it.

These are a few pictures I snapped tonight, and this is pretty much the way she always looks. Enthusiastic.

HAPPY EASTER!

Dying Easter Eggs

Today, we dyed Easter Eggs.
Savannah, our resident artist, was thrilled with the entire experience.

Will had fun too...

But he just couldn't wait to eat

Good work, kiddos!
