Planting The Garden

We recently received an offer from friends to participate in a co-op garden. Since Savannah has been begging to grow her own watermelon & cucumbers, and since I knew the kids & I would enjoy spending time out in the country, I figured it would be a fun opportunity. So, we all spent an afternoon out in the dirt...serious dirt. Enough dirt to make me realize what a city girl I've become.

Savannah, who regularly prays that she can "someday be a real cowgirl" got a kick out these 2 little ladies:

When we arrived, I told the kids, "There it is! There's our Garden."
Savannah's response? "Well, it looks like a big field of poop to me."

I purposely dressed my baby in brown, to camouflage the dirt. Unfortunately, it wasn't so easy to keep the dirt out of her mouth. Way to build that immunity system, Lila!

While I made meager attempts at planting, the kids had a good-ol' time playing on (can you guess?) dirt.

We'll see how the garden grows...more to come!

I love it! Dirt and kids just go together. I swear that my kids don't get sick as much because they play in the dirt. That doesn't really make much sense, but Lila will be better off for it. She is growing up so fast. Good luck on your garden. Keep us posted.

Maybe the Dunford family should do it afterall. It does look like a lot of fun!
