Getting Bigger!

Will is such a fabulous baby & it's hard to believe he's only been here for 3 weeks. It feels like he's been in our family forever! I love his sweet little baby squeaks, stretches & yawns. He is just so content with life & so perfect.

Christmas Time!!

Christmas time is so exciting with a two year old around! Savannah is completely fired up about everything--the tree, the lights, Santa Claus, singing Jingle Bells--it's all such fun. On Friday night, Jen & Will decorated the tree while Rod & Savannah played with the nativity set & watched the Mickey Mouse Christmas Special.
Life with 2 kids is just the best. We feel so completely blessed to have these little people in our lives!

A Happy Hinze Thanksgiving!

One of our favorite Hinze family traditions is waking up early on Thanksgiving morning to run the Turkey Trot.
This year, Savannah jumped out of bed & yelled, "I'm ready to run a race, I'm ready to run a race..."
The Dallas Turkey Trot is the largest in the country, with over 30,000 participants (everything is bigger in Texas!) & I would be shocked if Will, at 2 weeks old, was not the youngest in attendance!
Rod & Savannah tackled the 8 mile run, while Jen & Will were happy to do the 3 mile course this year. Savannah especially enjoyed the post-race bounce house spectacular. We all had a blast!

Professional Tennis Player: Rod (Finally) Gets His Pay Off!

After 16 years of hard-core tennis (practices, drills, matches, tournaments) Rod Hinze finally received his pay off!
Rod's Texas state ranking qualified him to play in the Season-Ending Texas Excellence Tournament in Waco.
Rod won his first match in a nail-biting 7-5 / 7-5 battle. He faced the number one seed in his second match and lost to the eventual tournament champion.
He left the tournament defeated, but happy with his performance.
A few days later, a surprise came in the mail: a $175 check for his big tournament finish!!
Jen was ecstatic, as her time spent as a tennis widow is now all worth it. She wants to remodel the house with the proceeds.
Rod, however, plans to reinvest the funds in his tennis career. He will soon cash the check and head straight to the nearest Pro Shop for new tennis gear.
(Rod's enthusiasm was slightly dampered by the fact that the check is actually for Rodney Hinez...)
Rod finished the season ranked #6 in the State. Check it out at http://tournaments.usta.com/tournaments/rankings/rankinglists.aspx?id=269049
Way to go, Rod!!!

Christmas Trains

We went on a family outing to NorthPark Mall on Saturday to visit the Christmas Train Exhibit. Savannah LOVES trains & had to leave (as you can see) against her will! I'm sure we'll be visiting again soon.

Precious Moments...

We had a big morning at the park,
followed by a big afternoon nap in my bed.
I woke up before the kids and couldn't resist taking a picture.
The feelings I get from seeing my two children together (especially sleeping so soundly!) are indescribable. They are so perfect, so innocent, so much fun.
I love them with all of my heart.

Party at the Hospital!

Savannah can make a party out of anything, and she got a HUGE kick out of visiting the hospital. She spent a LOT of time playing peek-a-boo on the window sill & she was even brave enough to chow down on the hospital food! She is so much fun!!

Party OUTSIDE the Hospital!

While Savannah loved visiting the hospital, Jen got tired of feeling couped up & accepted a dinner date with Rod on Friday night. We left Will in the nursery & snuck out to satisfy Jen's serious Chipotle craving! When the servers saw our hospital bands, they made dinner "on the house". How nice!
Before heading back to the hospital, Rod couldn't resist making a quick stop at Academy Sports (his favorite place to be, when he can't be on the tennis court) to buy a new ankle brace. He was very irritated to find that, in order to find the right size, he needed to know the circumference of his foot. I snapped a picture at just the right time & it totally cracks me up. What a goofball!

The New Big Sister

As you can see, Savannah is (so far!) thrilled to be a big sister.
The first time she saw Will she announced, "So tiny, So cute!"

She loves to give him kisses & to keep a close eye on him.
When he fusses she says, "Baby Will, you ok?"

I can't believe how wonderful & sweet it already is to see my children interact with each other. As I've heard others say, I would swear that my toddler aged the moment the new baby was born. Savannah all of a sudden just seems so big & so grown up.

It has given me better perspective on how quickly childhood, and especially babyhood, passes.
What a wonderful blessing to have little ones in our lives!!

Ready for Delivery!!!

So, the big day is finally here! Baby Will is coming tomorrow morning!!!

I feel everything is as ready as it can be!

I saw the doctor this morning. He did an ultrasound, so Savannah & I got one last peak at Will before his big entrance! It was very fun to see him sticking his tongue out, punching my belly & having a good time. I can't wait to meet him!!

My nails are done, my eyebrows are done, my hair is done, the nursery looks fabulous, the house is clean, my bags are packed, and I am READY TO GO!! This may be the last time in a long time that I feel "all put together", so I figured I had better document it!

My pregnancy has been fabulous (the treadmill picture is from this morning!), and I will miss having this little dude in my belly. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to be his mother. It is just the most incredible blessing in the world. I am excited to see Rod with his little boy, and I can't wait to see Savannah's reaction to her new baby brother. What a fun time for our little family!!!
