A VERY good plan that we call "March Madness".
Here it is...
Round 1 - Grandma comes to Dallas for a week
Round 2 - Grandma takes Savannah & Will back to California for a week
Round 3 - Mom takes Lila to California for a week then brings all 3 kids back home
Round 1 ended today, and it was honestly one of the BEST weeks of my life. It's such a treat to have my mom pop into my world, to be a support, to be a helper, and to be a friend. We have so much fun running this household together. This time, she even left me with a completely organized bedroom closet...it just thrills me to no end!
Round 2 starts today. Savannah & Will CAN'T WAIT to spend a week in California, with Grandma & Papa & no Mommy & no Daddy. I somehow forgot to mention to them that Mommy & Daddy are pretty excited about Round 2 as well. Hooray for us, to get a much needed break from some of the craziness around here!
The flight back to California didn't depart until 8pm, so we spent all day with the kids practically bouncing off the walls in excitement. Will was so fired up, he couldn't even calm down for his nap (and that kid NEVER misses a nap!)
I really was concerned that Will would have a hard time leaving me at the airport, but that turned out to be a big waste of worry. Will had NO problem saying goodbye. No tears, no frowns...just big hugs, big smiles & lots of excitement as he boarded the plane for his big adventure.
I can't wait to hear all about the fun they have in California, and I am SO thrilled that my parents are happy to take on the challenge!
THANK YOU MOM & DAD! SEE YOU IN A WEEK!!!
(And how beautiful is Grandma Dorothy? You look great, Mom!)

That is brilliant. I remember when Mom, Dad, Kirst and I would all go to Girl's Camp and leave the boys at "Camp Dorothy's" for the week. They LOVED it!! I was semi-jealous of them that they got to spend a whole week with Aunt Dorothy!
I wish we were in CA so we could get together with you on your week there, but I'll just have to suffice you flying over Utah and waving out the window at Me and the Opal Girl.
We love you.
Wow, you are so lucky! Mom for a week, then kids gone (one exception), AND you then get to play for a week in CA yourself! I am so jealous! The only downside would be having to travel back with 3 kids on your own but it would still be SO worth it. Have fun on you week off!
Jen doesn't mention that she is the one who makes it all sound so magical-for example the closets- mom leaned on the doorsill and begged to go to bed (at 10 pm) while Jen was wide-eyed with excitement going at it and getting out 4 bags of good stuff to donate-looks great, Jen.
But the grandma bit...well, I will take a little credit there. love you guys, see you soon!
Hi Jen,
Hope you two are having a great week with Lila! We saw your dad last week and he was SO excited about round two! Those kids (and you) are lucky to have such great grandparents in their corner! Maybe we'll see you in CA!
Melissa
How fun is that?! You are a lucky woman!
Doesn't that make you so happy for Mamoo and Papoo and what memories that created? I am so happy that you can carry that kind of tradition on with your kids!
