christmas Countdown - December 24th

So much excitement in the Hinze Home on Christmas Eve!

This morning, we worked on the gingerbread house

This afternoon, we bought our Chinese Hamsters!

They are sisters and have been named Lily (by Savannah), Rhino (by Will) & Tommy (by Lila).

They are adjusting well to their new home--we are so happy to have them!

This evening, we ate Christmas Eve dinner at Mai's, our favorite spot for Vietnamese.

Tonight we carried out our Hinze Family Christmas Eve traditions.

Upon arriving home from dinner, we were doorbell ditched by someone (?) who left new pajamas on our doorstep.

All jammied up, the kids got busy rolling around the ice cream ball.

We sang Christmas songs while passing the ball around in a circle, "Musical Chairs" style.

The kids then took turns taking the ball for a ride in the stroller.

The ball took a break in the freezer while we read scriptures and watched "Luke 2".

We then busted out a new tradition!

Every day in December, the kids have been telling me something nice they did for someone else. Since I had recorded their daily reports on the blog, I was able to print them all out on tiny slips of paper. We read all of the good deeds out loud & placed the slips of paper in these fancy little boxes. The kids then placed the boxes under the tree, as their gifts to Jesus this year. It was fun to hear how much good everyone had done, and the kids were so proud of themselves.

Then, of course, we busted out the ice cream & sprinkled it with peppermint candies.

After the kids went to bed, Rod & I spent several hours working on this set-up

We can't wait for tomorrow morning!!!
(But I hate to think of this holiday season coming to a close--it's been such a fun one!)

I Love your idea of the gifts for Christ. I am going to remember that and do it next year and for many years to come! It looks like you guys had a great Christmas. Love you!
