The hamster is awfully cute. I hope you get some nice ones. My hamsters were so mean (to each other and to humans). My gerbils were much nicer. They were all little escape artists. I think the cages these days are better than when I was a kid, but beware, if anything is loose then so are the rodents.
Oh hey, a tip from a friend who had a hamster. She said a hamster has to be handled everyday otherwise it reverts to its naturally wild and scared of humans state. I guess hamsters can't remember more than one day at a time. Makes sense since they have such small brains. Maybe my hamsters were so mean because we didn't handle them often enough. Or maybe we didn't handle them often enough because they were so mean.
