When I was growing up, my grandpa owned a fabulous little cabin in California, on Bethel Island. The cabin was built on the delta of the Sacramento River. I spent countless summer days at that little spot--waterskiing, swimming, lounging, and having the longest, laziest, best times of my life. My Aunt & Uncle Palmer now own the cabin & they have carried on the traditions & fabulousness that my grandparents started so long ago.
During our recent visit to California, we were invited to spend a day at the cabin. It was just a magical day for me, reliving so many of the wonderful memories of my childhood. Most interesting was watching my Savannah enjoy the same experiences that I enjoyed when I was 3 years old!
The family always jokes about my ability to complete an entire ski run without ever getting my hair wet (I've still got it!):
Riding on the tube with my cousin, Julie (We requested a more gentle ride from our driver than we would have 20 years ago!):

Savannah sitting on the steps behind the cabin. This could honestly be a picture of me, 27 years ago. The steps have been there forever, and that little pink flower grows in that same spot every single year. It's just comforting to know that some things never change...

That had to have been the best day I've had in a long time. I miss you so much!
Fun to see you guys when you were out. Savannah and Will are so cute! Let us know your plans for coming out here again. :)
We miss skiing with you guys. Looks like Savannah is still such a trooper.
Grandpa might take exception to that stair comment; I remember him slaving away more than once replace those risers. The one thing that hasn't changed is my memory of riding the orange sled down those stairs like a kamikaze.
