Every spring, we look forward to our trip to Ennis, when we enjoy a drive on the official Bluebonnet Trail of Texas.
Unfortunately, this year was a bit of a disappointment...
The bluebonnets, for whatever reason, just didn't bloom like they have in years past. The flowers were sparse, and the fields just seemed a bit dry.
I didn't mind too much, however, since it's such a family tradition to go, and we always enjoy the beautiful country drive. We'll just pray for a better crop next year.
I was only successful in snapping a few pictures of the kids...
When disaster struck...FIRE ANTS!!! Their bites are completely horrible & sting like crazy.
So, my kids spent most of the trip, scratching & crying in the back of our car.
Luckily, Dresden was there to bring flowers to Savannah. She was so in heaven with his special deliveries that she almost forgot about those fire ant bites...

That is so sad about the ants and flowers. Your kids are such troopers to still look cute in pictures. Could your kids be more beautiful?!
Beautiful pictures, even without as many bluebonnets.
Curse those fire ants!
This is the post I've been waiting for and what a bummer! And all perfectly dressed in white for the bluebonnets. :( I tried to get David to go and take the kids. Glad we never made it after reading about the fire ants. Ouch!
p.s. Great title by the way.
