Ding Dong Ditching!!!

Tonight we had our best FHE ever!

I borrowed this idea & wrapped up 3 packages of Hostess Ding Dongs.

In preparation for the big ditching project, Rod gathered the children around to tell them stories about his own ding dong ditching adventures back in the early 1980's. Specifically, he reminisced about a tall, lanky man nicknamed "Bean". According to legend, Rod & his buddies regularly ding dong ditched "Bean" until finally, one day, "Bean" chased down the boys & invited them back to his place for ice cream. Of course, the kids thought that was the best story EVER & begged Rod to tell them more.

After the story telling session, Rod changed into an all-black wardrobe & instructed the kids to do the same. Savannah ended up in dark purple & Will decided on camo (you can hardly see him here, hiding behind his bag of ding dongs!)

The kids each chose a neighborhood friend and we headed out for the big ditch.

Lila first

Then Savannah

And Will last

The kids had a blast but were admitedly disappointed that nobody tried to chase them down.

Their disappointment, however, was quickly cured by the excitement of feasting on their own Ding Dongs!

For the record, Bean never caught me, but he did catch my buddy who had a bowl of ice cream with him. Those were good times.

We're stealing this idea for FHE. Especially getting all dressed up in black. I can use my face make-up from when I was LaFawnduh for Halloween.

And we're naming our next child Bean.

Thanks for the inspiration Crafty-Craft.
