A Fabulous Fourth!

Our Independence Day celebration this year was the best!
(Although my camera was tragically left at home for most of the day.)

On Friday night, we took the kids to Kaboom Town--a big fireworks display in north Dallas. They enjoyed the fireworks, but they REALLY enjoyed the crazy light-up swords we just couldn't resist buying.

Saturday morning began with the Park Cities Parade, which is the cutest, most charming, most Americana time imaginable. Definitely one of my favorite Dallas traditions.

Saturday afternoon was spent at home, slip-n-sliding with the kids in our yard, followed by naps for everyone.

Saturday evening found us at our neighborhood pool, eating pizza and relaxing with friends.

Saturday night was the real party...big fireworks over the Lakewood Country Club, with fabulous views from our friends' front yard. We loved being with some of our favorite people, just enjoying the children and lots of yummy treats.

Maybe it's the ages of the kids, maybe it was the magic in the air, but somehow it really was just a perfect day.

(For the record, 2 nights in a row of 11pm bedtimes for Hinze kids does not, in anyway, translate to "sleeping in"...somehow those kids just love their 7am wake-up!)

Lila as Lady Liberty

Hoarding the free lemonade (it's so stinkin' hot here!!!)

An experienced parader (Savannah totally cleaned up...candy, circus tickets, beads...she's a pro at collecting her "free stuff"!)

"Slip-n-Slide" a.k.a. "Very Good Use of $9"
