False Start!

I had the craziest day yesterday!
The kids & I have been planning a trip to California, to visit my parents. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 11:20am on Saturday. Of course, I stayed up WAY too late on Friday night packing & making sure everything was JUST RIGHT for my first flight alone, with the 2 kids.
We left the house Saturday morning at 9:30am. Everything went our way—no traffic, no line at the ticket counter, a smooth passage through security, and a pretty graceful entrance onto the airplane (of course, I had my hands & mind VERY full, but the kids & other passengers were very cooperative).
After the plane drove out to the runway, the pilot announced that, due to high winds, we would have to wait for take-off. Luckily, a rule was just put in place that limits passenger “entrapment” on an airplane to 3 hours. So, after 3 hours on a completely full plane, in a middle seat, with an infant in my arms (who eats & poops a LOT!) and a very busy toddler by my side (thank goodness for snacks, books & the dvd player!) we returned to the gate. We then stood in line for another 2 hours to re-book our trip. Rod came to pick us up, gather our luggage & bring us home. By then, it was 5:30pm.
So, we’re going to try again on Tuesday morning—I’m leaving our bags packed & anticipating a better day.
Wish us luck!!
(Special thanks to Rod--he gets the "Super Dad/Husband Award" for giving Will his bottles last night & for taking both kids to church this morning while I slept & slept & slept...)

Jen! I had no idea this happened! I was just thinking of you today and thought you probably had a great weekend in California! So sorry, but it sounds like you handled it well. I hope you got off today and have a great time! See you when you get back!

Hey Jen, WOW good for you, traveling to Cali with both kids. I haven't done a trip by myself with 2, so I am anxious to hear how it went. Also, how sweet of Rod to let you have the day to yourself to recope, it is awesome to have such helpful husbands and dads. Have FUN with your family!!

So disappointing, Jen. You are brave to even attempt such a trip, but to have it turn out like that is rough. I hope your second try works out.

By the way, I thought about you on Valentine's Day. I hope yours was romantic without us.

Oh my goodnes, oh my goodness! I thought my flight on Monday was bad--until I read this! What a brave woman you are. However, just for good measure, on our flight home from Utah Anna threw up all over me, had a blow-out dirty diaper, and knocked over a glass of cranberry juice belonging to the man sitting next to us. Never a dull moment.
